Nothing ruins a ride quite like your ATV sinking deep into the mud or falling into a ditch. Getting your ATV unstuck can be quite difficult, especially if this is your first time experiencing this problem. Luckily, Fun Products Goldsboro has created this helpful guide to getting your ATV out of the muck.

1. Use a Winch

A winch is your best friend when it comes to prising your ATV out of the mud. Simply attach one end to the front or back of the quad, and the other end to another vehicle (possibly another ATV), and you’ll be towing it out in no time! If you suspect that another vehicle won’t be on hand to help should you get stuck in the mud, you might want to pack a small, hand-powered winch called a “come-along”. Don’t forget the tow straps!

2. Create Your Own Anchor

If you don’t have a come-along and no suitable vehicles are available to tow your ATV, you might need to use a large tree or other nearby heavy object as an anchor. If no such object is on hand, try using a small steel rod with an eye bolt or a set of ice-climbing anchors.

3. Bring a Shovel

If you don’t have an anchor and can’t make one, you can try digging your tires out using a collapsible shovel. This might give it enough traction to escape the muck.

4. Tilt Your ATV Back and Forth

If there’s no winch on hand, try rocking your ATV back and forth using your body weight. By leaning into the motion, you might be able to inch the vehicle forward enough that it can get purchase on the ground. You’ll be back on the trails in no time!
