An ATV, also called a quad or four-wheeler, is a powerful tool and toy that can help you get work done or just blow off steam. But it can only do that if it’s in good working condition, and to keep it there you’re going to need a few tools.

We here at Fun Products Goldsboro want to help you get the most out of your ATV, so we’ve put together some of the tools you’ll need to keep it in good shape, below. To learn more, or to see the quads we have for sale, contact our store in Goldsboro, North Carolina, today!

Allen or Hex Bit Wrenches

A lot of the fasteners on your quad are going to have hexagonal sockets, so you’ll need what’s known as Allen wrenches or hex bit wrenches to loosen them. Allen wrenches tend to come in a wide variety of sizes, but in terms of shape most will be an L-shape. However, you get limited leverage with them, so if you can, a hex-head socket for a socket wrench might also do right by you.

WD-40 or Other Penetrating Oils

These fluids are a mechanic’s best friend. If anything is ever stuck in place but should be moving, like a fastener you’re trying to remove or a rusted joint, penetrating oils like WD-40 are great for helping to loosen things up.

Test Light and Multimeter

If you’re ever fiddling with your ATV’s electronics, you’ll want two tools in your arsenal. First, a test light will help you verify whether an electrical connection is complete or not. Second, multimeters will help you measure the electronics more thoroughly, giving you readings like resistance, amperage, and voltage.

Tire Pressure Gauge and Repair Kit

Your tires are a vital part of your ATV, of course, so you’ll want a few tools to help you monitor and care for them. A tire pressure gauge is a good start—as the name suggests, it helps you determine the air pressure in a tire to ensure it’s at the right levels.

A repair kit, on the other hand, will help you deal with any holes or small tears. You’ll want CO2 cartridges, glue, tire patches, and plugs to help you get your tires back in good enough shape to get your quad home safely.

Tire Iron and Jack

That said, sometimes your tire is just too far gone and needs to be replaced. If you happen to have a spare tire with you, you’re going to need a tire iron and a jack to get the busted one off and replace it. A two-ton scissor jack is compact and should be able to handle your ATV no problem.
